Survival Courses – Bushcraft & Survival
Who Do We Train On Our Bushcraft Survival Courses?
With our bushcraft survival courses and outdoor education at SCT, we offer courses to cater to all levels of experience, from those just starting out fresh to the experienced outdoorsman and outdoorswoman.
We train anybody who has an interest in going into the wilderness or who has to work in remote places…demonstrating real-world survival techniques through training courses using outdoor instruction.
From SCT’s essential basic courses through to our intermediate courses and even our bushcraft survival skills course, each of our one day courses will help instill self-confidence within you and provide you with practical wilderness skills that can be used and adapted to suit a range of different environments.
Live training with in-person instruction will give you the right kind of practical capabilities required and the best knowledge. Here at SCT, we call it ‘muscle memory,’ and you cannot get that from learning online.
Our wilderness training will also teach you new skills, including: resourcefulness, resilience, self-confidence, teamwork and creative problem solving – so there’s something for everyone.
The syllabus for each of our courses has been carefully thought out and is designed to introduce you to a wide range of knowledge, as well as highly applicable and traditional survival and bushcraft skills for the real world.
With SCT’s Essential Basic Survival Course 2, and our Intermediate Survival Courses 1 & 2, it is a pre-requisite to have completed the previous course level first, so that everyone attending the more advanced stages has the same learning foundation and relevant know-how.
For our Bushcraft Survival Skills Course…you only need to have completed SCT’s Essential Basic Survival Course 1 as a pre-requisite.
Our bushcraft survival courses are designed to both challenge you by getting you to think creatively in non-familiar surroundings, as well as reward you with the knowledge gained and self-belief you will have when you head out into the wilderness.
Survival Courses & Bushcraft Courses: How Are SCT’s Wilderness Courses Structured?
Survival situations can’t realistically be 100% planned for, but they can be trained for, which is why SCT’s bushcraft and survival classes will ultimately help you when your life depends on it.
Our bushcraft survival courses are structured so that you can easily increase your level of wilderness skills and be trained for any environment or scenario.
None of us knows when we might face a life-or-death scenario in our lives…and the right kind of survival know-how from outdoor education courses may well just make the difference to get you back home!
As with most bush survival courses in Australia, the more you train for the worst using real-world scenarios, the better equipped you’ll be – from a mindset and from an applicable skill set perspective.
Success or failure often comes down to the individual’s ability to cope with the unfamiliar and to adapt to this change of plans and formulate a new plan.
With Survival Courses Tasmania, you will learn to trust in your bush survival training and be able to use even the most minimal amount of kit alongside your new-found knowledge to overcome almost anything that nature throws your way.
What Is The Training Style Like?
You’ll learn the critical knowledge and valuable bush survival & wilderness first aid skills in a friendly atmosphere and in natural surroundings, where each skill is carefully explained and demonstrated by our highly trained instructors, before you practise and develop the technique for yourself.
As each new skill is taken up we will help you to apply it to a real-life scenario and gradually build on what you have already learned – providing you with improved ability in the field and you becoming more self-sufficient as you progress. That’s what wilderness survival courses are truly about.
Where Are Our Venues?
At SCT, we believe that an important part of learning the required knowledge and skills is by being taught the basics first and that gives you the best preparation possible, so that you can more easily transfer that knowledge in the bush before we tackle more intermediate and advanced techniques.
Our facilities south of Launceston provide a perfect learning environment for students to be outside in nature while also having the ability to get there easily from anywhere in Australia.
All of our courses will be held outside to ensure it reflects reality.
Additionally, we are only 15-20 minutes drive from Launceston airport, so it couldn’t be easier to get here. And, now with many of the major mainland airports having direct flights to Launceston, it’s really convenient!
It might sound strange to some that you can be in the bush so close to Tassie’s second biggest city…but if you haven’t been here before, even Launceston airport is surrounded by mountain ranges on either side, including Ben Lomond NP, which has the second highest peak in Tasmania!
So, it really isn’t like any other city in Australia when it comes to being close to wilderness here.
Excitingly, for all of our survival and bushcraft courses – we will be going to wild bushland or a small, wild island – so we can be much more involved with nature around us, and so you can be in the wilderness.
